• Droppings: rats and mice produce a lot of droppings. Rat droppings tend to be found in large clusters in specific locations, whereas mice droppings are between 3 – 8mm in length and tend to be scattered randomly
• Strong smell: rat and mice urine have a strong, ammonia-like smell
• Scratching noises: you’ll hear scratching noises behind walls at night when rats and mice are active
• Rub marks: rats and mice leave smudges on surfaces that they come into contact with
• Gnaw marks: rats and mice constantly gnaw on hard surfaces to keep their teeth ground down
• Nests: rats and mice both shred soft material such as cardboard and insulation to build their nests
